1963 Chevy Nova SS Gasser Hot Rod Rat Rod Drag Racing Altered Wheelbase

These cars are still crazy looking to me but have a great amount of passion towards them.  1963 Chevy Nova SS Gasser Hot Rod.

This car is from San Diego, California as a true survivor SS Super Sport. The car had been sitting, not running, indoors for over 15 years. The odometer reads just a little over 41,000. That being said it has a rebuilt 283ci. Big valves, healthy cam. Now it’s my everyday driver. All the stainless steel, chrome and trim are in good condition.

 

It has fresh paint that is the correct Silver color. The interior was redone with brand new reproduction seat covers, door panels, carpet, etc. All the gauges work, except the clock. All of the lights, signals, heater, wipers, interior, glove box lights etc. all work. It has a factory Radio Delete plate.

 

All the weather stripping, window felt, rubber and scrapers are brand new as well as the windshield and window gaskets. All the window regulators were re-greased and roll up and down perfectly. The front clip was purchased from a guy on ebay, who bought it new, but never used it. It came with all the parts needed to just “bolt it in”, it has a speedway straight tube axle and disc brakes. Has a Vega steering box , and the steering column is from a 1966 Corvair. You will be amazed on how well this car rides and handles. It goes great down the road and is very easy and fun to drive. The engine is a freshly rebuilt 1965 283 V8 with big valve power pack heads. The camshaft is a new dual pattern .465 lift cam that thumps nicely through the mufflers.

 

Period correct parts were used for building this Gasser. Edelbrock intake manifold with the front oil filler tube, “REAL” Cal Custom vintage aluminum finned oil pan, new reproduction Cal Custom like polished aluminum finned valve covers with bitch’in valve cover breathers. 1965 Corvette chrome fuel line and black AC canister filter, 1962 Impala Radiator which is new, and a new 1967 Corvette brake master cylinder which stops great.

 

The original AIR COOLED Power Glide transmission was completely rebuilt with all new parts. This is a rare factory transmission as it has no cooling lines, and the tail housing has bolt holes allowing original floor mounted factory “stick shift” to be attached. The car rides on 15 x 4 American Racing mag wheels up front on new radial front runners. The rear wheels are a custom back spaced 15 x 7 steel wheel that has been powder coated satin black looks great. The rear tires are new 29″ tall radials. The rear end is the original open 3:08 ratio for good gas mileage, with an additional leave spring added (from a 1956 corvette). It has Lakewood Traction Bars, brand new air shocks and period correct shackles.

This car was built to resemble a gasser of back in the day.

 

While the car is tight and looks great it was built like it would have been in the 60′s. The paint job isn’t a $10K paint job. It has some flaws but is very presentable and has a real nice metal flake in it. The trim is all there and clean but some of it has some imperfections. I just don’t want anyone to have un-real expectations. The car is a rust free car. I can promise you this car is better than a 60′s era built Gasser. You can get in this one and drive anywhere you want to go. I could pull the auction early due too being for sale locally. This is really one of the nicest and cleanest gassers around. People will walk up to you and say, I have’nt seen one of these since I was at the strip back in the day (Great Memories) Love it, Great job.
